HEARTLAND Chief Coach, Samson Yebowei Siasia was yesterday announced as the Chief Coach of the Super Eagles ahead his erstwhile captain, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi after one member of the Technical Committee described their performance as “too close to call”.

Sports Vanguard gathered authoritatively that Siasia will be paid N5 million per month for his services while the assistants he is expected to pick would also earn N3m each.

The Bayelsa-born gaffer was named coach of the Eagles after a hot interview session that pitched him against his former colleague and captain, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi.

Speaking moments after the interview, Chairman of Technical Committee of the NFF, Barrister Chris Green also announced that Siasia would be saddled with the responsibility of choosing his two assistants. “Yes, he is the one to choose his assistants. The Federation will only attach one coach to understudy him”, Green said. He however did not say whether Siasia’s assistants would be indigenous coaches or foreigners.

Meanwhile, a member of the NFF Technical Committee, Deji Tinubu, a member of the Technical Committee saddled with the appointment of Siasia described the exercise as a very herculean task.

“It’s very herculean because the two candidates were very fantastic in their presentations. We were thrilled but I think that Siasia had something more genuine. If he follows up the things he presented today (yesterday), I think that our football will be heading for the sky”, Tinubu said.
