Bola Awoshika is the brain behind Laviva Ventures, an outfit which consists of Laviva Lace Hair, Laviva Boutique and B-Event Solutions. The graduate of Industrial Chemistry from Unilag is known for her expertise on all things pertaining to hair and proficiency in event management.

Her target audience, she says, are corporate organizations and discerning individuals who want good, efficient and quality results.

What does fashion mean to you?

Fashion, to me, is being comfortable. Some people are very under-stated while others are over-stated; it all depends on what you feel comfortable in. For me, it is all about being comfortable in what you are wearing and looking good in the process.

What are you comfortable in?

Well, I am that kind of person that any thing I wear must have a wow factor. Some people would say I could (sometimes) be over-the-top, but I like to have the wow factor in whatever I wear. That is me.

Your favourite bag and shoe designer?

For now, everybody is going for Loubountin but I like my Giuseppe. I like unusual things; so, for my trousers, I have always been a fan of Roberto Cavalli because, it has a lot of wow factor.

Favourite designer perfume?

I have my own oil perfume now. I went to Dubai and I got perfume manufacturers to do one that goes with my skin. So that’s the only one I wear now. I don’t do any other perfume.

Best fashion item?

It is funny; my best fashion item is my outfit. I will do with some lovely shoes but for me it is the outfit; though some shoes will have the wow factor, it is the dress that is what catches you and hair, of course. I will do hair first and then clothes.

Best make-up product?

Like I said also, I am not in to brands. I found out that (there are) a lot of brands but it is not about the brands, it is about the quality. I have a sensitive skin but I have been able to manage it and the only way I have been able to do that is that I use mineral-based make up products. So, right now, in my make up bag, you have different kinds of make up products as long as it has a mineral base. I have Mac. I have Channel. However, my best powder, which my friends find amazing, is Cover Girl. That’s the only one that I do not break out in. If I use Mac, by tomorrow, I’ll break out. Cover Girl works for me because it is hypo-allergic.

Jewellery choice?

You have to have a mixture of every thing. I wear gold; I wear costume jewellery. I wear diamond. So, it doesn’t matter what it is; as long as it goes with my outfit because that is what is important.

What would you splurge?

Diamonds. That is what I would say I can to out of my way to get; though, I have a few collections already.

Favourite drink?

My mood determines my drinking pattern; I could be in a mood for Gordon Spark. I could be in a mood for a glass of champagne or brandy. A lot of people drink champagne and they don’t even like the taste, but because they want to (identify with some status), they feel champagne is the in-thing. That is not it for me. Champagne, sometimes yes.

Favourite car for now?

I like jeeps, so if someone was going to give me a car gift, I would say I want a Mercedes Benz jeep.

What is your dream for Laviva Hair?

My dream for Laviva Hair is to be known nation-wide. I want to have branches nation-wide. I want my products to be everywhere they sell hair products. I am looking at opening a factory; so, I have so much ahead of me for now. That is my dream for Laviva.
