Bayelsa engages FBO for waste mgt

YENAGOA—Bayelsa State Government has employed the services of FBO Ultra Engineering Limited through its Public Private Partnership, PPP,  initiative to manage and properly dispose waste in the state. The company will also handle its waste damage control and construct new sanitary landfill.

Vice Chairman  of FPO Ultra Engineering, Mr Ebika  Igwe,  said that the company decided to adopt the waste control  system to prevent  health hazardness caused by drinking contaminated water.

Speaking further, Igwe said, that most Nigerians don’t treat water from bole hole, which has become the primary source for drinking water in the country lately and improper disposal of refuse, which some times contaminate water.

The company, he said, will use the door to door strategy to collect waste from residential areas, while waste generated in the market places are to be collected on a daily bases.

“Waste collected are taken to the Material Recovery Facilities, MRF,  for separation , after which they are recycled  and handed to those who needs them while others are properly disposed,” she said.
