Yenagoa—As the 2011 general elections draw closer, Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Chief Werinipre Seibarugu, has described the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, as the party to beat both at the state and national levels.

Seibarugu stated this at Agudama, while speaking to newsmen after taking part in the on-going membership registration of the party.

The Deputy Governor, who registered alongside his wife, Mrs. Iyorozitei Seibarugu, said the registration exercise was open to all old and intending members.

According to him, “there is no discrimination against anybody,” stressing that the party’s logo, the umbrella, is large enough to contain everybody.

Seibarugu, said the party’s manifesto was carefully drawn in line with the yearnings and aspirations of the generality of Nigerians, noting that since the return of democracy in 1999, the PDP has done well in making Nigeria leap to an unprecedented level of development. He called on Bayelsans to get themselves registered.

When the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) starts the voters’ registration exercise as, according to him, that is the only way they can vote for the candidates of their choice.

The Deputy Governor emphasized that Governor Timipre Sylva signed a social contract with the people of the state at his inauguration and has therefore vowed not to let the people down.

He urged Bayelsans to support the administration of Chief Sylva so that more dividends of democracy will be provided for the people.

The Deputy Governor’s party registration number is 6420001 and his wife’s is 6420004 in Yenagoa Local Government Area (YELGA) Ward 10.
