Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer, Tunde Styl-Plus, born Tunde Akinsanmi, has released his latest single, Atobijulo, featuring American artist Da Capo.

Released on September 4, 2026, the faith-inspired song explores the greatness and supremacy of God, with its title drawn from the Yoruba expression, “Iwo l’Atobijulo,” meaning God is greater than all things.

Tunde Styl-Plus is renowned as the co-founder of Styl-Plus, the iconic Nigerian group that made a significant impact on the country’s R&B and Afro-pop scene through its distinctive sound, songwriting and melodic style.

Atobijulo centres on themes of faith, worship and personal conviction, with Tunde reflecting on God’s supremacy over money, fame, worries, nations, kings, sickness, pain and darkness.

The release also marks a further exploration of faith-focused music for Tunde, as he draws from his personal experiences and musical journey to express his convictions.

Speaking with Elowell Max about the inspiration behind the song and the role of faith in his music, Tunde said Atobijulo connects different stages of his artistic journey.

“Over the years, I have released quite a number of songs, experimented with different sounds and identities, and continued to evolve as an artist. But ‘Atobijulo’ is particularly special to me because, in many ways, it connects where I am today with where I came from,” he said.

According to the singer, his faith has remained part of his journey, particularly during periods of uncertainty and challenges in his career.

“I wanted to create a song that would glorify God, and somehow those two pieces of my musical history came back to me—the old hook and the old musical idea. I thought, Why don’t I bring these elements back and give them a new life?” he added.

The song features American artist Da Capo, with whom Tunde has maintained a musical relationship dating back to his days with Styl-Plus.

Da Capo previously featured on the remix of Styl-Plus’ enduring song, Olufunmi, contributing rap verses to the record.

Recalling their history, Tunde said the latest collaboration was based on friendship and a desire to create together rather than simply having Da Capo appear as a guest artist.

“I met Da Capo during my days with Styl-Plus. We worked together on the ‘Olufunmi’ remix, where he came on and featured with his rap verses. We became friends after that and stayed in touch and maintained that friendship over the years,” he said.

“So when this record ‘Atobijulo’ came about, I wasn’t really approaching him as an artist I wanted to feature. I wanted us to collaborate. I told him, ‘I’m not featuring you on this record. Let’s do this together.’ And he was game. It just felt like we picked up from where we left off musically, but this time, it was stronger than ever.”

Musically, Atobijulo combines Yoruba expressions of worship with contemporary English-language songwriting.

The lyrics incorporate Christian imagery and references to Yahweh, Yeshua, the Kingdom of God, the Law and the Lamb, while the recurring refrain, “Iwo l’Atobijulo,” reinforces the central message of the song.

Beyond his work with Styl-Plus, Tunde has continued to develop his career as a solo artiste, drawing on his experience as a vocalist, songwriter and producer to explore different sounds and musical themes.

With Atobijulo, he adds another chapter to his musical journey while placing faith and worship at the centre of his latest release.
