The President General of Our Will , a support group for the election of Hon Kingsley Chinda in the coming governorship election in Rivers State , Glory Wobo, Esq. has called on members of the group and the general supporters of Hon Kingsley Chinda to remain focused on getting the needed votes for the election of the APC governorship candidates Hon Kingsley Chinda as the governor of Rivers State in the coming 2027 election.
Reacting to recent rumours on the Social media concerning the currency of the APC governorship candidate position in a statement made available to the media, Wobo said: ” The office of the President General , Our Will, has taken note of recent reports, commentaries and discussions circulating across social media concerning the political status, membership and candidacy of Hon. Barr. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda, MHR, and considers it necessary to address members, stakeholders and supporters of OUR WILL.

“We are aware that conflicting reports and interpretations of legal and political developments have generated concern, confusion and, in some instances, distracted members from the organisational responsibilities assigned to them.

“The Office therefore calls on all members to remain calm, disciplined and focused, and to distinguish between verified facts, legal proceedings, media reports, political commentary and social media speculation.”
On the status of Kingsley Chinda , the statement read , “
Hon. Barr. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Rivers State following the party’s governorship primary conducted on 21 May 2026. Reports of the primary state that he was returned as the sole aspirant after other aspirants withdrew from the contest.

“His subsequent resignation as Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC were formally announced on the floor of the House of Representatives on 2 June 2026.

“There are, however, legal proceedings and public arguments concerning aspects of his defection and eligibility. Those matters belong before the appropriate courts and electoral institutions and should not be converted into conclusions through WhatsApp messages, social media posts or political arguments.

“The Office has also taken note of claims suggesting that questions surrounding membership or candidacy have already been conclusively determined.
Members are advised to exercise caution in accepting such claims.

“Questions concerning party membership, qualification, nomination, candidature and the effect of judicial decisions are matters that must be determined from the relevant party records, electoral documents and, where applicable, the actual judgment or order of a competent court.

“It is therefore inappropriate for individuals who are not authorised to interpret such legal decisions to present their personal understanding of a court judgment as though it were a final official determination.

“Where a person or group believes that a candidate’s nomination, membership or candidature violates any provision of law, party rule or electoral requirement, the appropriate course is to pursue the matter through the legally recognised process and allow the competent institution to determine it.

“The Office has also observed claims suggesting that Hon. Barr. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda is simultaneously contesting the Rivers State governorship election under different political parties.

“For the avoidance of doubt, members should distinguish between political alliances, coalitions, endorsements and the actual political party under which a candidate is nominated and contests an election.

“Publicly available reports identify Hon. Barr. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda as the APC governorship candidate for the 2027 Rivers State governorship election.

“Accordingly, members should not confuse references to political coalitions or support arrangements with the formal nomination of a candidate by a political party.

“Where anyone alleges that a candidate is legally contesting under two political parties simultaneously, such a claim should be supported with the relevant nomination, submission or electoral records rather than circulated as an established fact.

“The Office further notes the argument being advanced concerning the importance of the recognised membership and organisational structure through which party participation and nomination processes are ordinarily established from the appropriate grassroots level through the Ward and Local Government structures to the State level.

“Such records, where relevant, should be considered together with the applicable party constitution, guidelines and electoral laws when questions concerning membership or qualification arise.

The Office will therefore not permit social media commentary to substitute for the relevant party records, official documents or judicial pronouncements.”

Wobo further said that “The Office particularly appeals to members to stop relying on self appointed social media “lawyers”, anonymous commentators and individuals who circulate legal conclusions without producing the judgment, order or official document upon which such conclusions are supposedly based.

“If a court has made a pronouncement concerning the candidate, the proper question is simple:

“What is the actual judgment or order, what exactly did the court determine, and what is its present legal status?

“Those questions should be answered from the court record and through competent legal interpretation not through screenshots, forwarded messages or political arguments on social media.

“Where a person claims to be an aggrieved party, the basis of that grievance and the legal process through which it is being pursued should equally be identifiable.

He also revealed that OUR WILL will not engage in social media litigation.
“The position of the Office of the President General is therefore clear: Members should not treat unverified social-media reports as established facts.

” A legal challenge is not, by itself, the same thing as a final judicial determination. The interpretation and effect of any judgment should be based on the actual judgment or order and competent legal advice.
” Political alliances or coalitions should not be confused with the formal party under which a candidate is nominated.

” Any genuine challenge concerning membership, nomination, eligibility or candidature should be pursued through the appropriate legal and electoral channels.
Members should refrain from making statements that could misrepresent the position of OUR WILL or expose the organisation to unnecessary

“Our LGA Coordinators, Ward Leaders, Media Teams, Youth and Women structures, volunteers and all other members are urged to remain focused on their responsibilities.

“We must continue to: strengthen our grassroots structures; Improve communication between State, LGA and Ward levels; Document our activities responsibly – Communicate only verified information.
” Engage communities respectfully. Promote discipline and unity within our structures;- Continue building an organised support structure around Hon. Barr. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda, MHR,” the President General added.
