Nigeria’s prolific artist and four-time Guinness World Records holder, Adetunwase Adenle,  plans to train 138,000 Nigerian children to tell their own stories about their environment, using AI animation.

The nationwide legacy project, backed by First City Monument Bank (FCMB), will be launched in Lagos on June 5, 2026. According to Adetunwanse Adenle,  the goal is to turn the participants into environmental storytellers who can effectively present  narratives on how the world sees their communities.

The nationwide initiative is designed to equip Nigerian children with artificial intelligence, animation, digital storytelling, and environmental education.

Project Coordinator of the Feature Earth Ai Creators’ Programme, Adetunwanse Adenle,

reveals that the project aims to inspire a new generation of creators who can use technology to address environmental challenges through storytelling and innovation. The Slum Arts Foundation Founder, and Co-founder of Animation Hub notes that the formal launching is to commemorate World Environment Day. 

According to him, over 138,000 students within the age bracket of 8 and 15 will be drawn from 5,760 schools across Nigeria to participate in the upcoming programme. Each child will receive training in Artificial Intelligence, Animation, Environmental Awareness, Creative problem-solving, and Digital Content Creation.

According to the organizers, the participants will learn how to use AI-powered animation tools to create visual stories and films, highlighting topical environmental issues like plastic pollution, flooding, biodiversity conservation, climate change, waste management, and sustainable living practices in their various communities.

Explaining that the initiative is designed to prepare the participants to become active contributors of solutions to environmental problems, the Programme Coordinator says, “AI is transforming the world at an unprecedented pace, and our children deserve the opportunity to learn, create, and innovate with its tools. We want them to move from being consumers of technology to become creators of ideas, solutions, and stories that can positively impact their communities.” Noting that through animation and AI, the children can raise awareness about environmental challenges and propose creative, engaging, and impactful solutions, Adenle enthuses,

“This initiative is about empowering the next generation of innovators, storytellers, and environmentalists” 

Feature Earth AI Creators Program is facilitated by Animation Hub under FCMB’s Flip to Tech Initiative, a platform created to equip young Nigerians with future-ready digital skills,  providing them opportunities to thrive.

Omoniyi reveals that the bank is helping young Nigerians to gain access to emerging technology promoting tech initiatives that spur them to actively participate in activities geared at solving environmental problems.

Activities lined up for the programme include a nationwide competition, featuring two categories of winners who will receive cash prizes, mentorship opportunities, and recognition awards for 

outstanding entries, showcasing original AI-powered environmental storytelling projects.

Feature Earth AI Creators’ Programme organizers believe the initiative has the potential to become one of Africa’s largest youth oriented AI-powered storytelling projects, focusing on environmental education. It will also serve as a platform for young creatives to develop critical digital skills while contributing ideas that support sustainable personal and communal development.

With backing from local and international partners, the artist runs AI storytelling workshops for children in underserved communities through Animation Hub’s initiatives. The children are learning to tell stories about their own environment with AI in these workshops organized by Adenle.
