Tech professionals unveil AI platform to transform exam grading in Nigeria

By Cynthia Alo

Technology professionals in partnership with YOD UNESCO, a youth-focused non-governmental organisation that promotes digital innovation and education has unveiled a new artificial intelligence-powered platform, ExamFlux.com to modernise examination grading in Nigeria.

The platform, currently in its beta phase, was developed by technology professionals Godwin Iheuwa and Eze Akalugwu, who serve as Head of Digital Development and Head of Volunteer Programs respectively under YOD UNESCO.

The developers said the platform is designed to speed up the grading of theory-based examination answers using Artificial Intelligence, reducing delays and improving assessment efficiency for students and institutions.

Speaking on the platform, Iheuwa said ExamFlux represent a major step toward the future of educational assessment in Nigeria, adding that the platform can evaluate theory-based answers for large-scale examinations such as WAEC within minutes.

He said: “Artificial Intelligence is increasingly shaping global systems. Nigeria’s education sector must embrace emerging technologies that can improve learning and assessment.”

Iheuwa added that the current release is only the beginning, noting that the team is already working on more advanced capabilities including grading accuracy tools, educational analytics, and personalised feedback systems.

Also speaking, Akalugwu said the platform offers a smarter and more flexible approach to grading, explaining that students often express correct knowledge in different ways and AI allows for fairer assessment beyond rigid marking schemes.

He further explained that the initiative was developed under an NGO framework to support accessible and improved educational technology for schools, tutorial centres, and other academic institutions.

Project contributor, Chidinma Njoku revealed that the development team spent considerable time gathering examination questions and materials from WAEC and JAMB between 2020 and 2025 to build the platform’s database.

She noted that while the platform is still under development, the team remains committed to expanding and improving its resources.
Other contributors to the project include Udie Favour, Comfort James, Agatha Efem, Deborah Ezekiel, Nice Abuzi, Mobolaji Olofin, Jude Nwali, Dara Afape, and Amodu Deborah.
