APC Primary: Edo South APC stakeholders laud Ogbeide-Ihama’s senatorial victory, urges reconciliation

BARELY 48 hours after the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial primary election where from the results announced by the Chairman, Edo South National Assembly Primary Election Committee, Muhammed Ajana, Hon Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama won the contest, the Concerned Stakeholders of the APC in Edo South Senatorial District have lauded the outcome of the excerise.

They congratulated Ogbeide-Ihama for emerging as the flag bearer of the party adding that the outcome of the primary election is a victory for internal democracy, unity, and the collective will of party members.

A statement by its convener Osamuyi James commended the party for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the primary election and praised the leadership role played by Governor Monday Okpebholo in ensuring that the process reflected the wishes of party members across the district and the state at large.

The statement said “The emergence of Hon. Ogbeide-Ihama has undoubtedly strengthened confidence within our great party, the APC, and reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, inclusiveness, and democratic principles.

“The primary election was not merely a contest among aspirants, but a defining moment for the future of the APC in Edo South and Edo State at large.

“We particularly applaud Governor Okpebholo for his firm belief in party supremacy and his commitment to allowing democratic processes to prevail without interference.

“The Governor’s conduct throughout the exercise demonstrated political maturity, leadership discipline, and loyalty to the ideals of the APC.

“While celebrating the victory of Hon. Ogbeide-Ihama, we also call for reconciliation and unity among all party members ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

“We urge all aspirants who participated in the primary election, alongside their supporters, to embrace peace and continue working for the progress of the APC, because there should be “no victor and no vanquished” after this exercise.

“We appeal to Governor Okpebholo and the leadership of the party in Edo State to immediately initiate reconciliation efforts aimed at bringing together all tendencies within the party.

“We recommend the constitution of a reconciliation committee that will engage aggrieved members and strengthen unity across the senatorial district.”

He said Edo South remained strategically important to the electoral fortunes of the party and promised to mobilize support across all wards and local governments in the district.
