A youth group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), the APC Youth Consultative Forum, has called for fairness, equity and due process in resolving issues arising from the Delta North APC senatorial primary election.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the group expressed concern over recent public comments relating to the unresolved primary contest, urging party leaders and stakeholders to allow the party’s established processes to determine the outcome.
The group noted that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC is yet to formally conclude deliberations on the Delta North senatorial primary and appealed for restraint from all interested parties pending an official resolution.
The APC Youth Consultative Forum stated that comments capable of being interpreted as favouring any aspirant should be avoided in order to preserve confidence in the party’s internal democratic processes.
According to the group, democracy is strengthened when all aspirants are treated fairly and party members are assured that decisions will be guided by established rules and procedures.
The forum also urged APC leaders at all levels to promote unity and inclusiveness, stressing the importance of maintaining confidence among party members and supporters.
Speaking on behalf of the group, its National President, Emeka Okechukwu, said the organisation believes that the concerns of party members should be carefully considered as the party works towards resolving the matter.
The group reiterated its support for the APC and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while emphasizing the need for transparent and credible processes in handling party affairs.
It further stated that ensuring fairness and adherence to due process would strengthen party unity and reinforce confidence in the democratic process within the APC.
The forum expressed optimism that the party leadership would take steps that promote cohesion and protect the interests of members across Delta North and beyond.
