The National Vice President of the Niger Delta Students Union Government (NIDSUG), Mr. Nwetuayo Joseph Agbo, has appealed to key federal agencies and parastatals to urgently step in and support students across the Niger Delta region.
In a statement released by his office, he specifically called on the Niger Delta Development Commission, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Nigeria LNG Limited, South-South Development Commission, and the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, among others, to uphold their social responsibilities by providing meaningful support to students in the region.
He highlighted the paradox of a region rich in natural resources yet burdened by neglect, underdevelopment, and structural challenges that continue to hinder students academic progress and overall welfare.
Describing the situation as urgent, Agbo stressed that meaningful investment in education is key to achieving sustainable development and lasting stability in the Niger Delta.
He also called on young people across the region to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), noting that active participation in the electoral process remains a crucial pathway to electing leaders who genuinely prioritize the interests and future of Niger Delta students.
He concluded by urging swift and coordinated action, emphasizing that although students in the region remain determined and optimistic, real progress requires collective effort and institutional support.
