A frontline aspirant for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Yerima Shettima, has obtained his expression of interest and nomination forms on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The forms were reportedly collected on his behalf by associates, Hon. Danjuma Paul and Barrister Onus Eugene.
Speaking with journalists after the exercise, Shettima said his decision to pick the forms was to confirm his readiness to contest the senatorial seat.
He recalled that he had earlier visited the party leadership in Kaduna with supporters to formally declare his intention to join the race.
The aspirant said he is prepared for the party primaries, dismissing speculation about a possible consensus arrangement.
He said Kaduna Central requires effective representation in the Senate, adding that he possesses the experience and capacity to serve constituents.
Shettima, a former President-General of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), said his background in youth advocacy has strengthened his engagement with the electorate.
Speaking also, Shehu Sani Sado, President of the Capacity Movement, described Shettima as a strong contender in the senatorial race, noting that current political dynamics make him one of the key figures to watch in the contest.
