Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has formally declared his intention to seek re-election in the 2027 general elections, receiving endorsements from leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the district.
The declaration, held at Oharisi Primary School in Ughelli, attracted party members and stakeholders from the eight local government areas of Delta Central.
Among those present were APC chieftains, including O’tega Emerhor, Ighoyota Amori, John Oguma, and South-South APC Chairman, Koyoyo Uhrorho, alongside other party leaders and executives.
Declaring his ambition, Dafinone said he would serve with “renewed vigour” if re-elected, pledging to build on ongoing projects and expand economic opportunities across the district.
He said his decision followed consultations with constituents and party leaders, and expressed appreciation for the support received during his first term.
“Leadership is not a badge of rank, but a burden of service. My approach has always been to engage our people and focus on delivering measurable results,” he said.
The senator highlighted initiatives he has supported, including advocacy related to the Sapele Seaport, rail development, and road infrastructure, as well as community-focused projects such as installation of transformers, ICT centres in schools, and medical outreach programmes.
He also referenced ongoing projects, including a student hostel at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun and a proposed train stop in Ughelli South.
On legislative efforts, Dafinone cited bills related to the establishment of new federal institutions and his involvement in constituency matters.
He commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ongoing economic reforms, and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for infrastructure development in the state.
He emphasised the importance of collaboration between federal, state, and legislative institutions in driving development in Delta Central.
“If re-elected, I will continue to focus on economic growth, youth development, education, and infrastructure,” he said.
In separate remarks, party leaders at the event expressed support for Dafinone’s candidacy and called for unity within the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
The event was attended by party stakeholders, including members of the Delta State House of Assembly, local government officials, and other APC supporters.
