Suspected members of Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists invaded Kautikari village in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State on Thursday evening, leaving three civilians dead and others injured.
Sources and fleeing residents said the insurgents shot sporadically and set residential buildings ablaze as people fled into the bush for safety.
Reliable sources also said troops of the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI responded swiftly by repelling the attack.
Just last month, precisely on 30th March 2026, some armed terrorists invaded Kautikari, the Christian-dominated community, at about 6 pm, and killed the commanding officer of Hunters, Mallam Bumto, who just arrived from Lagos a day before the incident.
The terrorists also killed Johanna Peter, whose wedding was slated for Tuesday, 31st March 2026, in Kautikari Church, alongside several other residents.
The attack also led to the displacement of the community with looting of foodstuffs and livestock, after which, the resilient people of the community resettled.
A security officer who hails from Kautikari and is based in Maiduguri, but is not authorised to talk to the press, confirmed the incident.
“Yes, our community of Kautikari is under Boko Haram attack. I just received the distress call at about 6:50 pm this Thursday. So far, three people were killed as others scamper for safety,” he said.
The security officer hailed the troops for their prompt response.
