DLA unveiled, promises economic reforms and security overhaul

A new political movement, the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), has been unveiled with a pledge to reposition Nigeria through reforms anchored on innovation, strong ideology, and people-oriented governance.

In a statement jointly signed by its National Chairman, Samuel M. Memeh, and National Publicity Secretary, Chris Mustapha Nwaokobia Jnr., the party said its emergence was driven by the country’s worsening economic challenges, insecurity, and what it described as systemic governance failures.

The DLA said it is founded on principles of Pan-Africanism, ethical leadership, scientific advancement, and inclusive governance, noting that these ideals would guide its policy direction.

According to the statement, the party is advocating a comprehensive restructuring of Nigeria’s economy, with a shift from a consumption-driven model to one focused on production, industrialisation, and innovation. It added that emphasis would be placed on local manufacturing, science and technology, and support for youth-led enterprises.

The party stressed that sustainable development can only be achieved through policies that empower citizens to create wealth and expand economic opportunities.

On insecurity, particularly in the agricultural sector, the DLA raised concerns over the destruction of farmlands and displacement of farming communities in parts of the country. It called for urgent legislative and policy measures to protect farmers and strengthen food production.

It also advocated stricter regulation of cattle movement nationwide and a transition to structured ranching, insisting that livestock operators must be held accountable.

“This is not just about security; it is about food security, economic stability, and national survival,” the statement said.

The party urged Nigerians, especially youths and professionals, to align with its vision, describing its formation as a movement for national rebirth and collective responsibility.

The unveiling of the DLA comes as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the next election cycle, with emerging groups seeking to reshape Nigeria’s political landscape.
