Hon. Eghosa Asemota Agbonifo, a prominent grassroots leader and former House of Assembly candidate for Oredo West, has officially announced his resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
In a formal letter addressed to the Ward Chairman of Ward 9, Oredo Local Government Area, Agbonifo cited the party’s inability to resolve internal friction as the primary driver for his exit. He noted that the environment has become increasingly difficult for those seeking genuine political progress.
Agbonifo pointed to two critical issues currently plaguing the party structure, The persistent inability of the party hierarchy to streamline authority and provide a clear direction and the internal divisions that have fragmented the party’s influence and hindered collective action within Oredo and beyond.
“As someone who believes in a unified front for effective governance and community development, the ongoing friction within the party leadership has made it challenging to contribute meaningfully toward our shared goals,” Agbonifo stated in his correspondence.
Despite his exit, the former candidate maintained a tone of civility and appreciation for his time within the fold. He expressed his sincere thanks to the leadership of the party for the platform provided to him and extended his best wishes to the members of Ward 9.
Agbonifo emphasized that while he is leaving the party, his commitment to the people of Oredo Local Government remains unshaken. He concluded by wishing the PDP well, expressing a hope that the party eventually finds a path toward reconciliation and internal harmony.
