A five-day capacity-building training programme for teachers from oil and gas host communities in Delta State has been successfully concluded, marking another step toward strengthening STEM education in the region.
The training, which commenced on Monday and ended on Friday, was organized by Mode Four Solutions in collaboration with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB). It targeted 30 teachers and focused on enhancing skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of Mode Four Solutions, Mrs. Orji Blessing, urged participants to take the knowledge and skills acquired during the programme back to their various communities and apply them for local development. She stressed that STEM education remains a critical driver of innovation, economic growth and sustainable development, particularly within the oil and gas sector.
According to her, the training was structured to equip teachers with practical tools and contemporary teaching methods required to effectively deliver STEM subjects in their schools. Sessions covered hands-on practicals, innovative teaching techniques and global best practices in STEM education.
The partnership between NCDMB and Mode Four Solutions, she explained, is aimed at promoting quality education and building the capacity of teachers in oil and gas host communities as part of broader efforts to support sustainable community development.
Participants at the programme expressed appreciation to NCDMB and Mode Four Solutions for the opportunity, describing the training as timely and impactful. They pledged to deploy the newly acquired skills and knowledge to improve STEM teaching and learning outcomes in their respective schools.
The initiative underscores NCDMB’s commitment to human capacity development and the promotion of educational excellence in communities impacted by oil and gas operations.
