Nigerian-born singer and songwriter, Ndukwe Ekene Wisdom, popularly known by his stage name Khenyzee, has been honoured with the Fast-Rising Artist of the Year award at the 10th Anniversary Edition of the African Icon Awards 2025, held on 26th July at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Colonnade Hall, Abuja.
Khenyzee, who hails from Alayi in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, was born and raised in Nkpor, Anambra State. His passion for music began at a tender age. He produced his first album as a child at just 12 years old. After completing his secondary education at Federal Science and Technical College, Awka, he returned fully to music, releasing his first official single in 2015.
Since then, Khenyzee has remained consistent, dropping projects back-to-back and gradually building a dedicated fanbase. In September 2023, he relocated to the United Kingdom to expand his reach and establish a stronger international presence, an effort that has continued to yield positive results.
The African Icon Awards, which marked its 10th anniversary this year, brought together a wide range of dignitaries, industry leaders, creatives and stakeholders from across the country. During the event, Ambassador Abraham Lawal, the Director of Programmes, commended Khenyzee for his resilience, growth and commitment to his craft, describing him as a talent to watch in the African music scene.
Khenyzee’s recognition as Fast-Rising Artist of the Year further cements his growing influence and marks another milestone in his evolving musical journey.
