Education for all: NYSC Member Awarded 1 Million Naira Grants to 50 Pupils in Edo State

In a bid to promote education and empower young minds, a National Youth Service Corps member, Idowu Oluwatosin Timothy with state code ED/24C/1654, has awarded 1 million naira in educational grants to 50 pupils in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The grant, which is part of the “Education for All” project, is aimed at supporting the education of talented and deserving pupils in public primary schools.

The beneficiaries were selected based on their academic performance and financial need, and each received a grant of 20,000 naira to support their education.

The program, which was held at Okada community, was attended by community leaders, teachers, and parents, who lauded the initiative and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity.

Speaking at the event, the NYSC Coordinator, Edo State, Doctor Ben-Ushie Frances Ifeoma, advised National Youth Service Corps members to take their service year seriously and embark on community development service projects that can make a lasting impact.

The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Chairman was represented by Dr. Austin Eseigbe, who appreciated Idowu Oluwatosin Timothy for his outstanding community service, stating that his project was a model for others to emulate.

The Ovia North East Local Government Chairman was represented by Hon. Faith Omoregie, who also commended Idowu Oluwatosin Timothy for his initiative, saying that it was a significant contribution to the development of education in the local government area.

Idowu Oluwatosin Timothy, who initiated the project, said it was aimed at promoting education and empowering young people to reach their full potential.

He also mentioned that his Nurturing Community Wellness Initiatives had been working to promote health and wellness in the community, through projects such as free medical outreaches to Olaiya Camp, Idiagbon Camp, and Okada market, benefiting over 600 people, and distributing malaria prophylaxis to 300 individuals.

Additionally, he had initiated a debate competition among secondary schools in Ovia North East, and established a Young Scholars Club for the 50 awardees, offering them one year of mentorship.

The event was marked with speeches, music, and other cultural performances, and was a grand success.

The “Education for All” project is part of Idowu Oluwatosin Timothy’s efforts to give back to the community and promote education in Edo State.
