BENIN CITY – The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, on Saturday said that as a child, he always prayed for God to bless him so he could, in turn, be a blessing to others.
He stated this in Benin City after he was bestowed with the Rotary Premium Award by the Benin Metropolitan Rotary Club, District 9141, in recognition of his humanitarian contributions. Idahosa said he was delighted that his childhood prayers had been fulfilled.
According to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Friday Aghedo, the honour was conferred during the club’s visit to his office to induct him as a member.
Idahosa expressed appreciation for the recognition and pledged to continue giving his best for the advancement of society and humanity.
“When I was growing up, my prayer to God was: Bless me so that I will be a blessing to the world,” he said.
He added that the honour was, without doubt, a call to greater responsibility.
Rotary President, Hon. Elizabeth Ativie, while giving reasons for the award and investiture, said Idahosa was chosen because of his humanitarian disposition, which aligns with the Rotary Club’s doctrine of service above self and community development.
“This is a reflection of where your heart is,” she told him.
The Assistant District Governor of the Club, Samson Olayiwola (Zone 20, D9141), later decorated Idahosa with the Rotarian pin, the globally recognized symbol of Rotary. He also received a certificate of membership and an embroidered sash identifying him as a member of the RC Benin Metropolitan District.
