ABUJA- THE Ministry of Steel Development, Wednesday, vowed to unravel the causes behind the industrial accident that occurred in a steel plant within Ogijo area of Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuiabu Audu in a statement signed by him and made available to Vanguard expressed condolence and commiserated with the families who lost their loved ones and those injured.
He said: “Our attention has been drawn to the recent unfortunate incident of an industrial accident that happened in a steel plant within Ogijo area of Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State on Sunday 2nd March 2025.
“The Ministry of Steel Development wishes to commiserate with the families of the affected persons who may have either lost loved ones or suffered injuries from that accident and particularly Sagamu Local Government and Ogun State Government at this difficult time.
“The Ministry is currently putting in place effect modalities to ensure sanitization of the steel industry in Nigeria and shall immediately conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the immediate and remote causes of the incident and take necessary steps to ensure that this unfortunate incident does not reoccur.
“While soliciting the cooperation of all stakeholders to join hands in mitigating any further unfortunate industrial accident in the steel industry, we will continue to create the enabling environment for the development of the steel industry in Nigeria to catalyse the industrial development of the nation.”
