A House of Representatives member representing Owo/Ose Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Otunba (Hon.) Timehin Adelegbe, has promised that the insecurity in the constituency would soon be a thing of the past.
Adelegbe said already, a vigilante group, has been established at Ifon to tackle kidnapping and other crimes.
Speaking in Akure at a briefing, the ranking lawmakers added that he would replicate in other major communities in the constituency the vigilante group to tackle kidnapping and other crimes.
According to him, the efforts of the vigilante group in lfon, had paid off forcing criminals to stay off the community which was once the den of kidnappers.
Asked to comment on the surge in criminal activities in some parts of the state and especially in his constituency, Adelegbe, said that the bandits would soon relocate following his efforts and constituency would again be safe from kidnappers and criminals who have been tormenting the people, particularly farmers.
According to him, ” l have equipped the vigilante group with necessary logistics, particularly operational vans, to make their operations smooth.
“When we realized that nowhere was safe again when kidnappers were abducting people incessantly, I decided to engage the Vigilante Group to help us fight the crime.
“I provided necessary logistics for them, including operational vehicles so that they easily move to scenes of crime and do patrol of black spots in the community.
“Ever since they began to patrol, they arrested some of the kidnappers and other ran away from the community which they had earlier turned to their hideout.”
Adelegbe added that part of his effort to ward off criminals from the constituency was the construction of Ute/Okeluse Road, which has been completed adding that ” it will henceforth be difficult for the criminals to operate along the road unlike before.
On his achievements in the last five years in the National Assembly, the lawmaker said that several projects, including school renovations, skill acquisition centers, and bursary awards for students, had been completed, while others were in progress.
In Agriculture, the lawmaker said that farmers in his constituency have benefitted through the distribution of 100,000 improved cocoa seedlings, farming tools and training in modern techniques, distribution of over 200 water pumps, distribution of over 2500 weed spraying pump and chemicals to boost agriculture.
” During these periods, I have constructed skill acquisition centers in different schools constructed classrooms and solar-powered initiative.
In the area of empowerment, Adelegbe, said that thousands of market women, youths, and artisans had received financial aid, work tools, and business grants to boost economic activities; Infrastructure projects, such as road grading, bridge construction, and the installation of solar lights in several communities, have also been a priority.
According to him “Over 150 youth were trained on fish farming with starter packs and N30,000 and aside that over 500 sewing machines, over 350 Generators, over 300 Dryers, over 350 Motorcycles and over 200 head dryer were distributed”.
“Cash grants of 20,000 to N100,000 was given to over 3,000 youths and market women among others”.
In the areas of sports and healthcare, Adelegbe, said he is constructing two stadiums, a diagnostic center, and a new health facility in the two council areas.
He assured his constituents that all ongoing projects would be completed while new ones would be initiated to ensure no community was left behind.
Adelegbe who expressed gratitude to the people of Owo and Ose for their continued trust and support, pledged to remain committed to delivering more dividends of democracy in line with his campaign promise.
Adelegbe disclosed that the National Assembly members from Ondo State have been attracting federal projects such as the upgrade of Adéyemí college of education to a university, ongoing dualisation of Ore-Ondo -Akure, FUTA Teaching Hospital and College of Aviation among others.
Speaking during the ceremony, the state chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Engineer Ade Adetimehin said the party “is proud of the lawmaker representing Owo/Ose federal constituency, Timehin Adelegbe for his numerous developmental projects.
Adetimehin described Adelegbe as a distinguished lawmaker who is interested in the welfare of his constituents.
According to him “i have witnessed many of his empowerment programmes in Owo and Ose. You are doing well and our party is proud of you.”
