…Warns detractors to desist

Niger Delta Liberty Movement, NDLM, a youth group pressing for peace and development of the Niger Delta region, has backed the coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, Dr Dennis Otuaro, in his bid to reposition the programme to achieve ultimate goals for the betterment of beneficiaries and the region.

NDLM in a statement issued yesterday, signed by leader of the movement, Comrade Ebiyekefe Stow, noted that Otuaro’s effort to revive the programme’s primary and ultimate aims was a welcome development and warned those they called detractors to steer clear of their hanky panky games.

The statement reads: “First, we want to once again, thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Dr Otuaro to man the Presidential Amnesty Programme because it’s a good that has happened to beneficiaries in the Niger Delta.

“The reforms of the Otuaro-led PAP are visible to all in the region, geared towards bettering lots of beneficiaries and which apparently affected negatively some people’s businesses with the programme.

“Before President Tinubu appointed Otuaro as coordinator from the riverine Delta State, he had consulted and was informed of his pedigree as one that is abreast with the Niger Delta struggle, who knows the pains of the people of the region.

“As a group, we are urging Otuaro not to relent in his good works and we assure him of our total support. We also want to advise those making frantic efforts to distract his well-intentioned moves to desist because he will not be removed as planned by them.

“We are advising petition writers and smear campaigners in the media making all sorts of unpleasant moves against Otuaro in order to thwart these reforms to steer clear from their evil acts, as their actions are anti-progressive aimed at self-aggrandizement.

“We call on President Tinubu to ignore the allegations levelled against Otuaro because they are unfounded and malicious, rather, self-serving moves to the detriment of beneficiaries and the Niger Delta region. Their figment of Otuaro bribing some people with beneficiaries’ stipends is false and laughable.

“We also want to use this medium to urge Otuaro to clear all outstanding payments to beneficiaries of the programme, and which we believe he will do”.
