Warri : OML 150 Communities Consultative Forum committee, CCFC, has urged governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta state and the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III to take urgent steps to avert outbreak of crisis in the host Communities over an alleged false newspaper publication.
Dismissing as untrue the report that the leadership of Dr Monday Agbeyi has been dissolved the committee said they were inaugurated precisely on January 21st 2022, for a tenure of four years.
Vice Chairman of the committee, Mr Emmanuel Afotan who spoke circulated a letter from the Delta state Ministry of Oil and Gas to Conoil producing Nigeria limited which introduced their executives inaugurated January 21st , 2022 where it also stated clearly that the executive was for a tenure of four years from the date of inauguration.
The letter signed by G.A. Puegeren, ( Mrs) Permanent secretary for the Hon Commissioner in February 2022 reads in part: “Inauguration of the OML 150 Communities Consultative Forum committee.
” In view of the above you are requested to kindly accord the committee maximum cooperation to ensure sustainable development of your host communities. Note that their tenure is for a period of four years with effect from Friday 21st January ,2022.” It was addressed to the Group Managing Director Conoil producing Nigeria limited, C/O Mike Adenuga in Lagos state.
The Vice Chairman Mr Afotan further urged the governor and the monarch to direct two chiefs of Warri kingdom allegedly behind the false publication to desist from such, saying it could trigger crisis in the areas as the tenure of the committee was still in force.
“The purported dissolution of the Forum was ab initio null and void. The Latin legal maxim says : “Nemo dat quod non habet – you cannot give what you don’t have, and cannot also collect what you have not given”. Dismiss the claim by a hand full of dissident individuals bent on throwing the entire OML 150 Host Communities into chaos for their personal gains. The forum has not been dissolved. It is not possible for them to dissolve a Forum they did not set up in the first place.”, he said.
“Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR, should call those trying to create problems to order before they cause serious communal crisis in the OML 150 Area. “, he added.
