Arsenal kick off their latest bid to dethrone Manchester City from the top of the Premier League as they host Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
The Gunners narrowly missed out on the title last season, having been at the top for much of the year, and optimism is high for the new season.
Wolves, having lost key players Pedro Neto to Chelsea and Max Kilman to West Ham United, face a tough opening match as they aim to improve on their 14th-place finish from last season.
Team News
Arsenal have been boosted by the return of Jurrien Timber, who has recovered from a foot injury and participated in training this week, and will be included in the squad for their Premier League opener against Wolves on Saturday.
The Dutchman might not immediately start, as Oleksandr Zinchenko has impressed at left-back during Arsenal’s last two pre-season matches.
Wolves manager Gary O’Neil faces transfer setbacks with the departures of Neto and Kilman and may also be missing several first-team players due to injuries, with Matheus Cunha, Jorgen Strand Larsen, and Daniel Podence uncertain, while Leon Chiwome, Enso Gonzalez are definitely out, and Nelson Semedo is suspended.
