OIL SPILLAGE

The leadership of Odimodi and its federated communities in Iduwini Kingdom have lamented the high level of massive oil spillage around its seashore and waterways, describing it as worrisome.
It could be recalled that a fire Incident was reportedly recorded on a drilling vessel platform, Britania U, at Ajakpa Field, ,OML 90, 10.77 nautical miles South of Forcadoes Terminal, in Delta State on Thursday, July 18th.
Addressing a press conference yesterday, Chairman of Odimodi and its Federated Communities, Comrade New-World Endoro called on the Britania-U Nigeria Limited to commence urgent clean-up and remediation of the environment, stressing that the people are already suffering from the adverse Spill.
He noted that the spill arising from a fire incident at the Britania-U Vessel drilling platform had spread.to Isiayegbene, Beniboye, Odimodi and Gbidipou community, warning that the people will not tolerate any delay in the clean-up and remediation, stressing that a Joint Investigation Visit,JIV, should be constituted immediately.
Endoro, who led other members of the communities to visit the polluted sites, lamented that the massive spill has caused severe damages to the environment, and called on the federal, State and Burutu Local Governments to come to the aid of the people as both the aquatic and the environment has been destroyed by the spillage.
In their separate speeches the Youth President of Odimodi Community, Comrade Monday Laide, other community leaders, Isaiah Ingo and Madam Peremene Helen while lamenting the suffering of the people occasioned by the spill also called on the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency ,NOSDRA, and the National Emergency Management Agency,NEMA, to urgently come to the aid of the people as life is gradually becoming unbearable.
