The former President of Nigerian Students in Australia, Comrade Tochukwu Onah has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing student loans into law, saying it showed that he is a father who has love for his children.

Comrade Onah appealed to Mr. President to extend this loan to Nigerians in Diaspora, while noting that many Nigerian students overseas are suffering to meet up with their school fees.

Comrade Tochukwu Onah who is also the President of Diaspora Coalition for Good Governance in Nigeria (DCGGN) recalled how Indians and the Chinese government offer their students loan to travel for studies abroad, which they pay back to their country after graduation.

He appealed to the Nigeria government under the able leadership of President Tinubu to learn from Indians and the Chinese government who sponsored their citizens to travel abroad to gain knowledge and return back to develop their country.

According to him, “it had become necessary now for the Nigeria government to create opportunities for brilliant Nigerians to maximize their potential by crossbreeding academically with a well tailored policy that will ensure they return after school. This will not only reduce the brain drain in the country, it will boost the nations economy.”
