A mobile phone firm, Itel has trained 100 students of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, Osun state on how to use their smartphones to earn extra income.
The two-day training focused on the use of a smartphone camera to capture special moments, which could yield extra income for the participants while still studying.
The empowerment training, which was held at the Students’ Union Building inside the University campus included content creation, mobile photography and video editing.
Itel’s National BTL Marketing Manager, Mojisola Abdullah said the two-day event is aimed at exposing the students to the many ways their mobile phones can help them earn money while studying.
“It is one of the ways we are introducing our new S24 model to the students. To show them that they can use the smartphone beyond just communicating, but also explore it better for making money while in school.
“And after graduation, they don’t have to wait for a white collar job but they can become entrepreneurs taking advantage of the digital world”, she added.
One of the expert that trained the students, Olawale Dauda of Imagine Cinemas, disclosed that the training is aimed at exposing the students to the various opportunities inherent in digital innovation even before they graduate from school.
