The Courier and Logistics Services Staff Association, CALSSAN, has received its Certificate of Registration, CoR,  from the Federal Government, through the Registrar of Trade Union, RTU. 

CALSSAN received its CoR on April 16, 2024, at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment in Abuja

In a joint statement presented at the occasion, the President and General Secretary of CALSSAN, Festus Oluwaruyi and Emeka Ekeh, respectively, among others, said “Today is a great day in the annals of the trade union movement in Nigeria with the Registration and Presentation of Certificate for the youngest trade union to cover the Trade Unions rights of over four million Nigerian workers in the Courier and Logistics Industry.

“On behalf of the National Executive Council of the newly registered union, the Courier and Logistics Services Staff Association of Nigeria, CALSSAN, we say a big thank you to the Minister of Labour and Employment, the Registrar of Trade Unions, and the entire staff of the Military for finding merit in our application. We promise to discharge our duties in line with the country’s labor laws.

“The union also appeals to our employers to see us as partners in progress and embrace social dialogue in resolving any dispute that may arise while doing our job. We call for cooperation and collaboration in taking the sector to greater heights in boosting the nation’s economy.

‘We are also using this opportunity to call on workers and our members to be alive to their responsibilities in the workplace as the union is there to protect their interests legitimately.

“We also draw the attention of the Minister on the following but not limited issues affecting the Courier Industry and Workers. They include Poor remuneration of workers by employers, no existing conditions of service and collective bargaining agreement in the industry, exemption of articulated Courier and Logistics vehicles from Tollgate payment nationwide, security surveillance on illegal/quack operators, review of Courier and Logistics Policy by the National Assembly in line with the best Global Practice.”
