Sapele – In a bid to secure the Chairmanship of Sapele Local Government Area, Dr. Austin Arieja, a Chieftain of the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and President General of Otonyasere Community, along with his supporters, paid a consultation visit to Hon. (Chief) Dr. Kingsley Esiso, the Delta State Chairman of the PDP.

 The consultation visit which took place on Sunday, March 31, 2024, showcased Arieja’s determination to use his vast experience and contributions to serve the people of Sapele.

During the visit, Dr. Arieja highlighted his successful career as a civil servant and his extensive grassroots political involvement, underscoring his qualifications for the position. He emphasized his commitment to building on the achievements of the previous Local Government Chairman, Hon. (Chief) Eugene Inoaghan, while propelling Sapele towards new levels of development.

Acknowledging the remarkable accomplishments of the former Chairman, Arieja expressed his intention to consolidate on Inoaghan’s successes, stating, “If given the mandate to become the next Sapele Local Government Chairman, I will consolidate on his achievements and subsequently take Sapele to the next level.” 

 He further expressed his confidence in Chief Esiso’s support, recognizing his track record of producing good governance and two governors for the state.

“I have come to make myself apparent to you, so that the Sapele-led government’s political structure will be stronger than it is today,” Dr. Arieja expressed, emphasizing the need for collective efforts in developing human and capital resources. He highlighted the importance of investing in Sapele’s future and reviving the town, promising not to disappoint Chief Esiso and the people of Sapele if given the opportunity.

In response, Chief Esiso commended Dr. Arieja’s qualifications and aspirations but advised him to consult with other party leaders and garner their support for his candidacy. As the State PDP Chairman, Esiso acknowledged his role as a father figure to all party aspirants and assured that the best candidate would ultimately emerge.

Dr. Austin Arieja’s visit to Chief Esiso was accompanied by a diverse array of supporters from the 20 wards of the PDP in Sapele Local Government Area. The show of solidarity demonstrated the widespread backing and belief in Arieja’s ability to lead the local government to greater heights.

As the Sapele Decides 2024 elections draw closer, the political landscape in Sapele is set for an intense contest. Dr. Austin Arieja’s consultation visit to Chief Esiso further solidified his determination to bring his wealth of experience and dedication to bear in service to the people of Sapele. With the support of his followers and party leaders, Arieja aims to reshape the future of Sapele and foster a brighter tomorrow for its residents.
