The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has expressed happiness with the start of operations by the Dangote Refinery, saying that will help reduce the importation of refined products into the country.

According to the Senate President of the association, Comrade Akinteye Afeez, on Sunday, the commencement of operation by the refinery was an exciting news.

“Nothing could be more exciting at the beginning of the new year than to read the news of the giant strides accomplished by a multi-continental business whose root is tied to Nigeria, the Dangote Group. Besides the excitement that comes with the commencement of oil production by the Dangote Refinery, I am more thrilled by the company’s promotion of local content, particularly at a time when Nigeria struggles more consumption of most of its products that come from elsewhere than engage in production activities through local manufacturing.

“The refinery’s operation is a clear indication of the growth the Dangote Group has experienced and its tenacious commitment to growing the local economy of Nigeria.

“I am optimistic that as this refinery continues its operation, it will increase the already-leading role of the Dangote Group as the highest private employer of labour in Nigeria. The refinery’s operation will also increase opportunities for many Nigerians, especially youths, with diverse skills to contribute to the company’s ambition while also ensuring positive youth engagement and non-consideration of a life of crime or ill means of earning a living. I congratulate the entire management and staff for this achievement and continue to wish you well in all of the company’s endeavours. Congratulations!.”
