In a significant turn of events, Maria, the grieving mother of Quinton, has received a glimmer of justice following her son’s tragic suicide while under the care of foster parents, Mr. James Smith (aka Mr. Fabulous) and Mr. Neil Smith.
The news was shared by Josephine Oboh-MacLeod, the founder/Trustee of JOM Charity SCIO, through the organization’s Human Rights and Communications Coordinator Mabel Oboh.
Josephine Oboh-MacLeod expressed her gratitude to the supporters, revealing, “I am pleased to inform our supporters that Maria will be attending the funeral of her beloved son Quinton.
“Originally denied the opportunity, a recent Facebook post from the Smiths changed the narrative, stating an open invitation to all. This is good news and a step in the right direction, a type of victory from where we were coming from,” Josephine added.
The decision to attend the funeral was made after consultations with Maria’s solicitor, Olivia Ndoti, founder/ trustee of the Women Integration Network (WIN), members, and other supporters of Maria.
Josephine extended thanks to the British Transport Police and the Scottish Social Services for their support during the blunt refusal by James Smith and Neil Smith to allow Maria to attend her son’s funeral.
She emphasized, “This is the beginning of victory for us, but we still have to continue the journey to the final destination of justice.”
Adding depth to the unfolding story, Mabel Oboh, the Human Rights and Communications Coordinator for JOM Charity SCIO, provided further insights.
“We are intending to have our own memorial service supported by WIN and other stakeholders for Maria’s late son Quinton,” she stated, ensuring Quinton’s legacy is preserved.
Mabel also announced a pivotal decision: “Maria has made the decision to take this matter to court, so that justice will come to her after 14 years of not being granted any access to her children, Samantha and late Quinton.
“The decision to go to court seeks to unravel the circumstances surrounding the separation of Maria from her children.”
In a call to action, Mabel urged, “Let’s keep the momentum going. Let’s keep injustice at bay and fight for Justice for Maria, Quinton, and all of Maria‘s children who have been denied family love and unity.
“This welcoming news signifies a crucial step forward in Maria Mutadiua’s pursuit of justice, and the story continues to unfold as the funeral approaches, set for Tuesday the 23rd of January.
“We shall be attending in solidarity,” Oboh concluded.

Recall JOM Charity SCIO, has said it would be against the natural course of humanity and a great injustice to motherhood if Maria Mutadiua is prevented from attending the funeral of her biological son, Quinton Isaac Maliya.
Therefore, JOM Charity SCIO began a campaign to get justice for Mutadiua and also for the appropriate Scottish authorities to investigate why Quinton, a 14-year-old, would commit suicide.
