Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB leader
By Peter Duru, Makurdi
The Forum of Middle Belt Youth Presidents, FMBYPs, Saturday stated that the likes of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu are not worst than leaders of Fulani herdsmen militia, Miyetti Allah and Fulani Nationality Movement, FUNAM, fingered in the killings and sacking of communities in the Middle Belt and therefore should be equally arrested and prosecuted.
The FMBYPs in a statement in Makurdi by its Coordinator and President Benue Youth Forum, Comrade Terrence Kuanum insisted that it would amount to the worst injustice if leaders of the Fulani groups who claimed responsibility for the killings in Benue and the Middle Belt were allowed to walk free in Nigeria.
“We expect that the federal government will immediately direct security agencies to arrest the leadership of the Miyetti groups and FUNAM with the same zeal they apprehended Nnamdi Kanu.
“Now they have demonstrated capacity to nab and extradite a suspect even from a foreign land so nothing should stop them from arresting Miyetti Allah leaders and other terrorists who live and dine in cozy hotels in Abuja.
“The arrest of the leadership of the Miyetti Allah groups and FUNAM who do not only want the collapse of the country but also want to appropriate it to themselves, will drastically reduce tension and prove that the Buhari government is willing to accord justice to all Nigerians at long last.
“We remain committed to the unity of this country but we seek justice, fairness and equity to sustain the unity, peace and progress necessary for a healthy and strong nation.
“We commend great leaders of conscience such as Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue, Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo and Nyesom Wike of Rivers whose firm stand for truth and justice has preserved Nigeria’s image as a country with men of integrity.
“We call on all Nigerians to rise to protect this nation because we have no other country. We equally urge the Federal Government to show that it cares about the feelings and aspirations of all Nigerians by ensuring that justice is not selective and to ensure that all enemies of Nigeria are made to account for their crimes”, the statement read in apart
