It is becoming more glaring that the people of Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State are being subjected to undue melancholy.

How else does one describe a people who are geographically fixed to a territory but are not accorded any regard be it justice, amenities and infrastructure balance but rather deprived of their freedom.

Welcome to Ipokia LGA, the main gate to Ogun state, where killings of innocent souls have become routine.

The third day of the month of April 2020, was another black day in Ipokia Local Govt when the men of Nigeria custom cut short the journey of one of the future hope. This is a lady who was preparing for her junior WAEC believing that she would become somebody one day, but sekina was unlucky to accomplish her mission! Nigeria Customs sent her to her early grave.

Meanwhile, the people suffer deprivation of electricity, water, road, town planning, education and so on.

As if the insensitivity is not enough, the issues of border closure came without any palliative measure being put in place.

Although, the parents of the deceased have resorted to fate saying “there is nothing we can do.

We have to put everything in God’s hands.’’ the issue now is that who is their next victim. In one of the news published by The Punch Newspaper, Sekinat’s parents were described as hopeless and helpless, but the description is actually capturing the status of the majority of the people in Ipokia Local Govt because nobody; no government, cares about them.

Many of the sons and daughters of the Local Area are all over Nigeria. They have their families, most especially, parents in this place therefore it is abormination for them to turn blind eyes.

Six months ago, some students were killed in the same local government area. There was protest, there were outcries, Governor Dapo Abiodun called for calm and promised to investigate; promised to bring the perpetrator to book.

It should be known that the sorrow that crept into the family of Sekinat in the area council could have been averted if the needful was done by the government.

The demand that the killer squard should be brought to book is commonsensical. Aside, permanent solution should be provided to jettison attitude of seeming ill-treatment to the people of Ipokia LG.
