Woman dies after SUV plunges into Ogun river

A woman taking her daughter to school, yesterday, lost her life along Ijebu-Ode-Benin expressway when her  Lexus SUV plunged into Ososa River in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The daughter, who is a student of the Tai Solarin University of Education, reportedly sustained severe injuries in the accident that occurred at 2:40 p.m.

The Ogun State Public Relations Officer of Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the accident was as a result of over speeding.

He said the vehicle was from Lekki in Lagos and heading to Ijebu-Ode when the accident happened.

Akinbiyi further explained that the woman was the driver and was taking her daughter, who is a student of the Tai Solarin University of Education back to the school.

He said: “As a result of over-speeding, the woman lost control of the vehicle and plunged the vehicle into the river.

“The driver, who is the woman and mother of the lady, lost her life, while the daughter is receiving treatment at the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital.

“The accident vehicle has been removed from the river and deposited at the Motor Traffic Division Odogbolu.”
