Abakaliki—The People’s Democratic Party, PDP,  in Ebonyi State yesterday called on former Governor Martin Elechi to return “the billions of naira” he wasted on uncompleted projects which littered the state during his eight years reign as governor.

The party stated this while reacting to the former governor’s briefing titled: “Ebonyi State government is painting the streets   in the name of projects” on Monday in Abakaliki.

In a statement issued in Abakaliki, the PDP’s State Publicity Secretary, Deacon Okulegu Bethran Enyim  explained   that the disposition of the former governor was an indication of someone who never believed that the incumbent governor would out-achieve him (Elechi) in just few years in office, adding that: “Of course, we appreciate the fact that the former Governor Martin Elechi in Ebonyi State does not understand and cannot even imagine what the developmental strides of David Umahi means to the people of Ebonyi State.”

The statement read in part: “The Ebonyi State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has dismissed the latest press briefing  by the former   governor, Martin Elechi. The briefing is laughable.

” The state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party inEbonyi State dismisses the opinion of Martin Elechi and challenge him to return the billions of naira spent on Oferekpe water schemes project and various uncompleted projects during his tenure.

“PDP in Ebonyi State describes it as a waste of resources and time  for the former governor to clutch at every semblance of a floating straw to save himself from drowning in the ocean of Governor David   Umahi avalanche of achievements in the state.”

He flayed Elechi for taking cover in APC in order to avoid prosecution by the EFCC which he said  is usual under PMB’s administration.

“We are being mindful not to wash Martin Elechi’s  dirty linen in the  public because   Engr David Nweze Umahi compelled us not to open up Martin Elechi’s bad antecedent to the public.

“Of course, we appreciate the fact that the former Governor Martin Elechi  of Ebonyi State does not understand and cannot even imagine what this developmental strides of Engr   David Nweze Umahi means to the people of Ebonyi.”

and populous political party in Africa to have a Governor who’s performance has made mockery of other governments in the past, given the unpopularity and incapacity of Martin Elechi to attract such good governance, he suffice to say things against the responsible government, which Elechi refuses to recognised during his tenure.

“We will refrain from joining issues with Martin   Elechi over his baseless vituperation that the developmental strides of this magnitudes is painting the streets, but refer him to remember what the roads in Ebonyi capital city look like when he was the Governor of Ebonyu State. Example the road leading to rice mile can never be compared to what we have now. The outstanding and enduring work which the His Excellency Governor David Nweze Umahi administration is doing in all sector’s which has been recognised nation wide.

“We are also proud to inform Martin   Elechi & co of the excellent work which Governor David Nweze Umahi and the PDP have done in all sector’s   which includes the road leading to Martin Elechi’s country home which he failed to construct during.

Furthermore, this   administration has recorded giant strides in all areas of human endeavor, “It is sad that instead of devoting it’s very limited capacity in seeking ways of cobbling and mending it’s fractured structure, Martin   Elechi is meddling in matters over which it neither has the intelligence nor the facts to engage anybody in a sensible, reasonable conversation.

“However, we wish to assure him that we will not be distracted by these silly attempts at creating unnecessary diversions by the penchant to invoke sentiments in his usual bellyaching manner.

“We the people of Ebonyi are completely satisfied with His Excellency Engr David Nweze Umahi for huge and successful governance which He has given to us His people Ebonyi State, this   is the reason of the mammoth crowd in support of the re-election of His Excellency Engr David Nweze Umahi, and the overwhelming outpouring of love, joy and happiness exhibited by Ebonyian’s embraced our beloved Governor His Excellency, Engr   David Nweze Umahi (Akubaruoha 1 of Africa), has proven beyond doubt that PDP is Ebonyi and Ebonyi State is PDP. Even the future leaders and indeed majority of Ebonyian’s know that their future is well and solidly secured with Governor David Umahi, and with PDP all the way.”
