THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, senatorial candidate for Bayelsa East Ipigansi Izagara and the House of Representatives candidate for Brass/Nembe Federal Constituency, Mrs Marie Ebikake, have called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to order a rerun in Nembe Bassambiri where there was no election but results were announced.

The duo, who briefed newsmen at the state PDP secretariat, yesterday, said that they were rejecting the results that was announced for Nembe Bassambiri communities, and wondered how results emerged from places where materials were hijacked and elections never took place because of violence.

The PDP Senatorial candidate, Mr Izagara, who noted that he waited all day to cast his vote but could not as there were no INEC officials and materials, added that he was informed that the materials were hijacked and diverted to a hotel.

Izagara and Ebikake, who were flanked by party officials from the area, stressed that there was no election in Ward 4,5,6,7,11,12, 13 and 14, and also accused security operatives of aiding and abetting the perpetuation of irregularities in the area to favour one of the political party.

Izagara said, “I was not given the opportunity to cast my vote in my constituency III and there was no election in Ward 11, 12, 13 and I was suprised that results were complied and submitted for collation. I am aware that the Collation Officer refused to accept the results but was forced to accept it by soldiers.

“I am pleading with INEC to conduct a rerun in the areas where elections did not hold and also call on the various security agencies who compromised the process to stop playing the role of INEC officials in the election.”
