Nollywood producer, Alex Eyengho who contested for the Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in last Saturday’s election, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has called for the cancellation of the election, alleging that the elections held at Warri South West, Warri North and parts of Warri South Council Areas were fraught with lots of irregularities.
Eyengho made this call while addressing the press on Wednesday, at the Warri Correspondent Chapel of Nigerian Union of Journalist (NIJ) Warri, Delta State.
According to Eyengho, who congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari for his reelection for a second term said the election was laced with unprecedented electoral malpractices, ballot box stuffing, vote buying, life-threatening electoral violence and record-breaking irregularities.
Accompanied by his campaign team, Eyngho accused INEC staff and their Ad-hoc staff of deliberately circumventing the Card Readers to frustrate voters across the three Warri local government areas.
In his words, “Let me state very manifestly clear that said rogued and crooked election was laced with all manner of living examples of unprecedented electoral malpractices, ballot box stiffing, vote buying, life-threatening electoral violence, record-breaking irregularities, deliberate circumventing of the Car Readers in connivance with INEC staff and ad-hoc staff.”
He thanked the people of the Warri Federal Constituency, assuring them that he would soon retrieve his stolen mandate which they freely gave to me through peaceful and legal means permitted by the laws of our land.
Also, demanding for the immediate cancellation of “all toxic votes fraudulently awarded to the PDP candidate by the manifestly compromised INEC,” Eyengho said “I am the best person for the job in terms of competence, capacity, knowledge, integrity, exposure, accessibility and grassroots support, I remained focused and kept my eyes on the ball at all times.”
“All toxic votes, particularly in the riverine communities of Warri South West, Warri North and Warri South LGAs must be quarantined,” Eyengho said. He pleaded with his teaming supporters and the electorate to remain calm and law-abiding saying that he will retrieve his mandate allegedly stolen from him through peaceful and legal means permitted by the law.
