Park Inn by Radisson, Abeokuta is set to commence the second edition of her Inter School Debate, endorsed by the Ogun State Ministry of Education. The event is scheduled to begin on the 22nd of October, 2018, while the grand finale will hold on the 28th of February, 2019.

The General Manager of the hotel, Kayode Aina disclosed this at a press conference held on Wednesday in Abeokuta. He said: “You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives… It is on this note that we have decided to continue to support the Nigerian child’s curiosity and learning through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative tagged ‘Education and the Nigerian Child’, which uses the inter-school debates as a tool to rejuvenate healthy competition among secondary schools in Nigeria.”

“To ensure a credible debate, Park Inn by Radisson, Abeokuta partnered with the Ogun State Ministry of Education to select the participating schools and to train the debaters, judges and other officials on necessary skills to ensure flawless debates”. He added.

The CSR programme is in conjunction with Kola Obadimu Jr’s Playhouse and it involves organising inter secondary school debates in Ogun state. This year’s edition is bigger than the first, with forty secondary schools (public and private) in Ogun state scheduled to compete.

Twenty secondary schools participated in the first edition of the debates which produced Victorotti Private Secondary School, Idi Aba, Abeokuta as winner. The three debaters from the winning school got the opportunity to visit Kenya on a three-day all expense paid educational tour in partnership with Kenya Airways and Park Inn by Radisson, Nairobi.

A four star hotel affiliated with the Radisson Hotel Group, Park Inn by Radisson is an upper midscale, full service hotel located in the heart of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun state.
