Wanted cult kingpin, security guard killed in Delta

ASABA—UNKOWN gunmen have shot dead a 41-year-old security guard, Bashiru Ibrahim, at a sand excavation site in Oleh, while suspected cultists stabbed a 19-year-old documented kingpin of Vikings cult, Michael, dead in Ughelli, both in Delta State.

Also, one Chief Julius Owhojamuni, has been reportedly kidnapped under curious circumstances.

It was learned that the victim used his phone to call one Silver Ofugara to announce his abduction.

Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Mr. Muhammad Mustafa, who disclosed that Police were on the trail of the perpetrators, asserted that one Alhaji Ibrahim Ado reported that the security guard from Kebbi State was shot dead in the night at the site by Ozoro Roundabout, Ughelli Road, Oleh.

“The scene of crime was visited and the corpse removed to Oleh General Hospital mortuary for autopsy,” he added.

On the killing of the cult kingpin, Mustafa said: “The brother reported at the “A” Division, Ughelli, that Michael was stabbed to death by some suspected cult members.

“The said Michael was a notorious member of Vikings cult and has been on the wanted list of the station for various cult-related offences.

“The scene was visited and the corpse deposited at Ughelli General Hospital mortuary for autopsy. Investigation is ongoing as efforts are on to arrest others.”

On the kidnap of Owhojamuni, he said: “Silver Ofugara reported at Ekpan Division that he received a phone call from one Chief Julius Owhojamuni through phone number 08160863571 and that when he answered the call, an unknown voice introduced himself as a ‘kidnapper’ and that they have kidnapped the owner of the phone, along with his Toyota Corolla with number, EFR 348 AE.

“Immediately, detectives swung into action and other sister agencies were informed. The vehicle was later recovered at Orerokpe.

“Efforts are in top gear to track down the hoodlums and rescue the victim.”
