Consultant Paediatrician Dr. B. O. Okperi, who signed the report, noted that Oghenerukevwe requires urgent cardiac surgical intervention.

Ufuoma, the boy’s  mother told Good Health Weekly that the family has been running from pillar to post ever since, taking the ailing youngster from one hospital to the other in the search for relief.

“From DELSUTH he was referred to Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex, OAUTHC, Ile Ife, in Osun State, then to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, UITH, Ilorin from where he was referred back to  OAUTHC.

“After all the tests and examinations including contrast computerised tomograpy, pulmonary angiography and echocardiography radiology investigations, we were told at the hospital in Ile Ife that he requires three separate surgeries to correct the heart deformity. Each surgery is estimated to cost N3 million, making it a total of N9 million.”
