THE immediate past Director-General of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Dr Ladan Salihu, has emerged the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the Bauchi South Senatorial by-election scheduled for August 11.
Ladan Salihu polled 575 votes at the party primaries to defeat Garba Dahiru, a former Commissioner for Finance in the immediate past PDP administration led by former governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda, and Hajara Yakubu Wanka, who also served as Senior Special Assistant in the same administration.
While announcing the results of the primaries held at Command Guest House, Bauchi, yesterday, Chairman of PDP Bauchi South Senatorial by-election Committee, Victor Kwon, disclosed that 772 delegates were accredited for the primaries, out of which 769 actually cast their votes.
Victor Kwon said Hajara Yakubu Wanka got 35 votes, while Dahiru Garba polled 96 votes.
He added that while Salihu polled a total of 575 votes to emerge winner, 63 votes were voided.
In his post-election speech, Salihu thanked the delegates for considering him worthy, assuring them that he will do everything humanly possible to get victory for the party and pledged good representation if elected.
