Roger Federer has disclosed that Rafael Nadal will reclaim the number one spot in the ATP Ranking following his (Federer’s ) shocking Miami Open exit.

Thanasi Kokkinakis came from a set down to beat the Swiss star on Saturday and effectively strip him of his world No 1 title.

Nadal, who missed the tournament through injury, was not defending as many ATP points as his Swiss rival, so has hence leapfrogged him back to top spot in the rankings.

It was the second time in a week Federer has suffered defeat, following his Indian Wells final loss to Juan Martin del Potro.

And the 36-year-old admitted that he deserves to be stripped of his title following the shock defeat.

“I deserve it after this match,” he said.

“That’s how I feel. Just so bad.”
