I was almost 16 when I met my boyfriend. He was 23 and a fresh graduate. My parents absolutely refused I should have anything to do with him because of the age gap and told me to finish it.
To keep them happy, I told them it was over but I carried on seeing my boyfriend in secret.
That was three years ago. I am currently doing an advanced catering course and my boyfriend has a good job.
I’ve just found out I’m expecting a baby and my boyfriend is happy about this development.
He is a good man who loves me and treats me well.
How do I now tell my parents about my pregnancy and the fact that I lied to them?
Anjola, by e-mail.
If you love your boyfriend and know he’s the one for you, then you have nothing to worry about.
You need to be brave and come clean to your parents. At 19 they might think you’re too young to cope with problems of raising a child and probably getting married. But you can’t wish your pregnancy away and you need all the support you can get.
When your baby’s born, I’m sure your parents will come round – just be strong and have faith in your love for one another.
