Warri— As the Itsekiri monarch, the Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Ikenwoli celebrates his 2nd coronation anniversary against the back drop of constant ill-motivated comments by some persons on matters concerning activities in the palace, Itsekiri have been enjoined to desist from the inimical practice of denigrating the revered institution in the various social media platforms.

The admonition was given by the Olulaye of Warri Kingdom, Chief Eugene Ikomi, yesterday, when he spoke to newsmen at his residence in Warri, Delta State in celebration of the 2nd coronation anniversary of His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwoli, adding that the Olu symbolises the unity of the people with one King and one language.

Congratulating the Olu of Warri, Chief Ikomi who noted that the royal father has been able to achieve peace and harmonious co-existence with neighbouring tribes within and outside his kingdom,  disclosed that the reign of Ogiame Ikenwoli will usher in massive physical/ infrastructural growth and development, adding that empowerment of youths through employment and provision of vocational skills will ensure a self-sustainable living for them at all times.

The business mogul said that what appears to be agitating the minds of some persons currently in the kingdom were teething problems associated with all new regimes the world over that would soon been surmounted as he appealed to “Social Media Tigers” to stop the attacks as it amounts to washing their dirty linen in the public as well as exposing the throne to public odium before their immediate neighbours and the larger society.

Chief Ikomi commended the Ogiame Ikenwoli for his foresight in conferring chieftaincy titles on deserving young and vibrant Itsekiri sons and daughters, saying that “These young new chiefs will be the ones to take over from the old chiefs as they become feeble and weak to function effectively at the palace and need time to rest after very active service to the palace and the Itsekiri nation.”

He charged all aggrieved persons in the kingdom to sheath their swords and key into the new agenda of the palace by their active support and loyalty to the monarch in order to move the Itsekiri nation forward for the benefit of all, even as he dismissed claims that some palace chiefs had renounced their titles, saying that  no chief had officially return his or her  beads to the palace.
