It’s your season for favour

By Funmi Komolafe

Believe it or not, we are moving closer to the end of the  year.  By the grace of God, you and your family members will see the end of this year joyfully in Jesus name.

2017 will not   be the end for you and your household in Jesus name.

As Christians, its time to reflect on our relationship with the Almighty God .   Have you been prayerful?  Are you at the level you were at the beginning of the year?  Have you moved up spiritually? Are you expectations already met?

Are you still hopeful?   Have you given up?

There are a thousand and one questions you could  ask yourself as you vengage in self-assessment. However, not many of us can honestly make a critical self-assessment.  Generally, most of us are insincere  and we do this by rationalizing  areas that we are defective.

I can imagine someone saying, what is it, I have prayed , fasted, sang praises and nothing has happened.  I have even gone out of my way to evangelize  yet God has not responded.  Then he or she begins to say, “ I cannot kill myself, let God do it   when he wants to”.

As human beings, many would think along this line but what we have forgotten is that there is no human being that God created and has forgotten.  No, not one .  The only issue might be that your time isn’t his time.

Brethren, you may have indeed labored with prayers, fasting, evangelism, sacrificial giving and more . The good news for you is that  your season of favour has come.

The Lord will favour you this season in the mighty name of Jesus.

What exactly is God’s favour?   Men of God say it is when God gives you something so special that by all standards you are not qualified for.   It is when God singles you out of the  crowd and gives you a testimony that  makes people praise His name.

There are several definitions but let’s look at what the Holy Bible tells us about favour.

The book of Esther 2 verses 15-17 gives us a typical example of God’s favour.

“ Now  when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter , was come  to go unto the  king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s chamberlain, the keeper of the women,  appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of the all them that looked upon her.

So Esther was taken unto King Ahasuerus into  his house royal  in the tenth month, which the month of Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.  And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in  his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti”.

The background to this is that the King wanted a  Queen to replace Vashti.

Brethren, we are not told that Esther prayed or fasted to be the Queen.  God just chose to favour her.

This season, the Lord will single you out for his favour in the name of Jesus.

The only thing that may have qualified  Esther for God’s favour and this is an assumption, is that she kept herself pure.

1st Corinthians 6 vs. 19 & 20 states “ What! Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you , which ye have of God, and ye are not your own”.  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in  your spirit, which are God’s”.

Even if this is the only reason we find for God’s favour for Esther, we need to mediate on it.

Just last Sunday after service, I ran into a sister in Christ, who is in her 40s, waiting on the Lord for a life partner.  What I saw shocked me.  This lady had on her face four green spots.  I’m not talking of cosmetics .  What I’m saying is that  parts of her skin had turned greenish as a result of skin bleaching.  The question is why did she go into skin bleaching?  Probably,  to attract a marriage partner.  Her bleaching, unfortunately, didn’t get her a life partner, rather, it gave her a skin disease.

The way, she looked, not many men will be attracted to her.

This lady had tampered with the temple of God; her body.

However, it is not only single ladies that tamper with the temple of God.   Some married women including those who claim to be Christians do. Not just by bleaching but engaging in very sinful acts.

If a married woman who claims to be waiting on the Lord resorts to extra marital affairs because she desperately wants to have a baby to keep her marriage, she is defiling the temple of God.

She may also lose that marriage she believes she is trying to keep.

By engaging in such activities, she is rather incurring the wrath of God.   Like Pastor Enoch  Adeboye, the general overseer  of the RCCG once said, any woman who engages  in such is “ delaying her miracle”.

The Bible further teaches us in Ist Corinthians 3 vs. 16&17 “ Know ye not, that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?  If any man  defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are”.

By the grace of God, you will not be the obstacle to your own miracle in Jesus name.

But brethren, you know what, our God is merciful.  For those who engage in the activities earlier mentioned, it is not too late to repent and put a stop to such unholy activities.

Let’s return to the issue of favour.  In your case, you have been praying, fasting, faithful with your tithes and your service to God, please don’t give up.   Ask the Lord to single you out for his mercy.

His mercy is  usually the step that gives you His favour.

Without the favour of God, Labour comes to nought.  It is the favour of God that coverts our labour to prosperity.  Prosperity in child bearing,  material prosperity, spiritual prosperity etc.

The more of the favour of God we get, the more peaceful and enjoyable life becomes for us.

It is therefore pertinent that we ask for his favour.  When he attracts his favour,   what was deemed impossible becomes possible, with his favour, you become a celebrity, as a beneficiary of his favour, your mockers will have their mouths shut forever. Some of them  will have no option but serve your God.

Psalm 102 vs. 13 “ Thou shall arise and  have mercy upon Zion: (you can replace Zion with your name) for the time to favour her , yea, the set time, is come”.

When you have been waiting on the Lord for  over 10 years and God blesses you with a set  of twins; a boy and a girl,  you  can attribute it to the favour of God.  Why?  It is simply because you aren’t the only one praying for babies but God has decided to turn your labour to favour .

Very soon, for someone out there, you will receive a result that will cause you to celebrate before this year comes to and end in Jesus name.

God will favour you  but remember to ask for his mercy, and keep yourself holy.

By the grace of God, you will share you testimony very soon.

Go and have a fruitful week in Jesus name.
