Dr Increase Uche, President, National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), on Tuesday cautioned members of the association to comply with trade rules.
Uche told newsmen in Lagos that the association would not defend any erring members in the case of arrest, impounding of cargo and outright seizure.
The NAGAFF president said such measure would aid the association in gaining operatives and agencies goodwill.
He said that there was need for port users to comply with the trade rules to promote the good policy.
“We want a situation where every freight forwarder in our fold does the needful as it concerns clearing of cargo.
“As a group, we are working with the operatives and the agencies to ensure that the Executive Order of Doing Business with Ease comes to fruition, therefore the association will not in any way support members with unclear complaints
“NAGAFF prides itself as one of the professional bodíes doing legitimate business in the ports, therefore, will not belittle itself in defence of erring members,’’ Uche said.
He called on members to rather act as whistle blowers to the operatives to further earn their respect as the gains of being compliant outweighed the opposite.
