The killings and kidnapping in Edo State, particularly the state capital, Benin –City, in the last two months, is creating tension. The situation is so scary that night life is dead in the state capital. Armed robbers operate freely, especially in Ekenwa, Upper Sakpoba, Siluko and some parts of Airport Road. Over 25 persons have been killed by armed bandits in Benin – City during the period under review.  

ONE thing that is certain about the memo to President Muhammadu Buhari by the Minister of Petroleum Resources is that only a few people would clearly understand its message.

That said, it is disappointing that a historian of stature like Prof. E.A. Ayandele would declare ex cathedra that “If an individual ever decided the course of events in any country, Odumegwu Ojukwu did – by pushing Nigeria inexorably in the direction of civil war.”
