ABA—THE Rector of State Polytechnic, Aba, Professor Ezionye Eboh, has said arrears of salaries will soon be paid.
Vanguard gathered that workers of the polytechnic are being owed nine months arrears of salaries and 13 months check-off dues to the staff unions in the institution.
Speaking during a courtesy call on him by the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, Professor Eboh explained that the management, on assumption of office in February, met backlog of salary arrears from July 2016 till January 2017 and has done a lot through the support of the state government to pay off about five months arrears between April and June.
He disclosed that the institution had also received some subvention from the state government, but added that the present economic crunch in the country has affected the flow of funds to the polytechnic.
