PROMPT intervention of troops of 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, Thursday, led to the rescue of residents of Tsafe village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State from the hands of rampaging armed bandits.

But before the intervention of the troops who killed one of the dreaded bandits, an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, had been mauled down by the men of the underworld.

Army spokesman, Brigadier General Sani Usman, in a statement, Friday, in Abuja, said the troops of 223 Battalion, 1 Division,  thwarted efforts of the suspected armed bandits who besieged Tsafe.

According to the statement, “the troops on receipt of information about the presence of the armed bandits, mobilized immediately and moved to the area. They killed one of the armed bandits and recovered 2 AK-47 rifles, 6 magazines and 7 motorcycles.

“Unfortunately, a personnel of Federal Safety Corps (FRSC) was killed by the marauders before the arrival of the troops, “the statement read.
